Our Opinion: Despite the light update, this A6 is almost like being in a vintage car. What is it now, 5 years old? I’m not criticizing - just an observation. Take the interior. Yes, it’s well-built and the materials are just fine, though it’s not on par with the - which, in my view, has the best interior on the market at the moment. Outside, too - Handsome as the Audi A6 is (love the front end), it seems like I’ve been looking at the same A6 exterior for a long time, maybe because I have. Our site says A6s were updated in 2015.

I’d never guessed, though Audi fans would call it timeless, I suppose After driving this particular A6, though, gotta say it all works. Generally I don’t like my midsize luxury rides to have four cylinders under the hood, but if I must, the group’s 2.0-liter turbo is about as good as it gets. (I might have to get over myself on the four-cylinder thing - we’ll see more and more, I bet.) Power is on par with the ’ V6 (again, according to our site), so I have no complaints in the oomph department. The car pulls away from stoplights with some thrust, and I could barely feel any turbo lag, regardless of rpm. Midrange/freeway passing torque felt like it would just go on forever. I kept the adjustable suspension primarily in comfort mode.
It felt just right - nice and smooth. The car can be driven semi hard - with quattro all-wheel drive, there’s more than enough grip and the A6 has a helluva stiff chassis. True, in slowish corners, you can feel that this baby weighs nearly 4,000 pounds, but again, thanks in part to the quattro’s grip, it’s a fun, composed car to hustle. A recent rainy mess was perfect for experiencing the A6’s competence.
You can often find me whining about German automaker pricing (looking at you mostly, BMW) but for $56K, this car is priced well, in my opinion. Consider the and mentioned above: The last four-cylinder I drove wore a $67K sticker and the E-Class was a grand higher than that, and those were both 2016 models. So the Audi might be aging a bit, but it’s still a really nice driver, and dang, it’s a flat-out value compared to those two.
